Mauna Kea Comprehensive Management Plan
Project Team
The CMP was prepared collaboratively with the Office of Mauna Kea Management by a team of consultants hired by the University of Hawai‘i. The overall project team coordinator is Ku‘iwalu, a small consulting firm with experience in community outreach on culturally sensitive issues. Ku‘iwalu has worked successfully on many projects throughout the state providing consultation on critical issues relating to land use, especially as they relate to Hawaiian culture and the environment.
Members of the consulting team:
- Edith Kanaka‘ole Foundation is a preeminent organization in cultural issues and practices in the Hawaiian culture, based on the Island of Hawai‘i.
- McNeil Wilson Communications, locally owned and Hawai‘i-based, has 25 years of experience in conducting public information programs related to Native Hawaiian, environmental, and cultural matters.
- Pacific Consulting Services, Inc. (PCSI) is a Hawai‘i-based consulting firm providing cultural resource management services, including archaeological studies.
- Rechtman Consulting is an archaeological firm based in Hilo, Hawai‘i;
- Sustainable Resources Group Intn’l, Inc. (SRGII) is a small, Hawai‘i-based environmental consulting firm specializing in using interdisciplinary, integrated approaches to solve resource management issues.
